MSU opens new Clark College
Murray State University celebrated the opening of a new Clark College on campus on Tuesday, Aug. 14. It is the first residential college to be built on campus since 1970. The facility was ready for students to move into for the fall semester. A dedication ceremony was held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. to introduce the new facility into Murray State’s residential college family. MSU students, faculty and staff, and community members were invited to attend the ceremony and tour the building immediately following the dedication. MORE
Student selected as finalist for BMI John Lennon Scholarship Program
Scott Gibbs, a junior music major from Mount Vernon, Illinois, and a member of Elizabeth College, was selected as one of the MENC State Finalists for the 2007 BMI John Lennon Scholarship Program.
The 2007 BMI John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship Program offers one $10,000 scholarship and two $5,000 scholarships to college students who write the best original compositions for vocal-instrumental performance with the broadest popular appeal.

MSU student wins one of two Kentucky Academy of Science awards
Stephanie Galla, Murray State University student from Glen Ellyn, Ill., was recently recognized for her research by The Kentucky Academy of Science with one of two 2007 Marcia Athey Awards. MORE
CSI-like forensics anthropologist scheduled for Gary Boggess Distinguished Lecture
This year's annual Gary Boggess Distinguished Lecture features Dr. Emily Craig, the Kentucky State Forensic Anthropologist. Craig is the author of Teasing Secrets from the Dead: My Investigations at America's Most Infamous Crime Scenes. MORE
MCMA features Violinist Conklin in concert
The Murray Civic Music Association and the community of Murray join together to honor the late Jan Wilson. Mrs. Wilson served for many years on the MCMA Board of Directors. Events include a concert by Dr. Scott Conklin, violin, and Dr. Alan Huckleberry, piano, on Sunday, February 18 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door of Murray State’s Performing Arts Hall or by MCMA membership. Proceeds from tickets at the door go toward children’s concerts to honor Mrs. Wilson and the work she did arranging children’s concerts. MORE

Seventeen high schools from three states were represented by team and individual participants in the 36th Murray State University High School Chemistry Scholarship Tournament, November 2, 2006. MORE
MSU students establish memorial toy collection
The Murray State University Student Government Association, along with the school of agriculture’s Agribusiness Club has launched an annual holiday project to honor the memory of the late Dr. Kenneth Bowman. The Ken Bowman Memorial Toys for Tots Collection will be going on through Dec. 15 to help assure that all area children have a bright Christmas. MORE
Two Chinese students enjoy U.S. culture
International student enrollment continues to grow at Murray State University during its "Year of the International." Approximately 380 students from several nations around the world are attending Murray State for both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Among these students are Lichao "Scott" Xing and Zhonghai "Buzz" Zheng, from China, who arrived in mid-August. Both are working on their master’s degrees in journalism and mass communication. MORE
