ELIZABETH COLLEGE

NEW OFFICERS: Jacob Dunman, president; Blair Bennett, vice president; Casey
Matthis, historian; Jessica Burton, social director. Positions of
secretary/treasurer, SGA reps, RCA rep, and social director will be elected
early next fall. Stacy Cook will be the program assistant and Ashley
Robbins and Mike Boyd will be the athletic directors. Bob Valentine will be
the college head.

RCA OLYMPICS: The Elizabeth Eagles, led by Mike Boyd, captured first place
in the annual RCA event on the hill.

HONORS BANQUET: This year's RD, RAs, members of the RCC, freshman-year
leaders, outstanding students in each class and new members of the
Elizabeth
College
Honor Society were recognized at the annual honors banquet May 1.
New members of the honor society included Johanna Dueker, Sarah Hobson, Anna
McClure, Jason Wayne Smith, Michelle Winn Smith, Vanessa Jones, Terri S.
Ligon, Chad Michael Douglas, Ashley Robbins, Jennie Gholson and Natalie Roe.
The Outstanding Senior was Craig Dixon. Reggie Shaw was voted Mr. Elizabeth
and Michelle Adams was selected as Miss Elizabeth. Ashley Robbins and Rod
Hall were selected as the Outstanding Athletes.

NRHA HONORS: Thirteen students and four faculty members attended the annual
NRHA honors banquet April 27. Elizabeth won the following honors: RA
Recreational Program, Michelle Adams; RA Occupational Program, Abe Brummett
and T. Yonts; RA/RCC Educational Program (Fun History of MSU), Male
Programmer of the Year, Chris Schwerdtfeger; Marc DeReigh RA Scholarship
Award, Abe Brummett; RCC Member of the Year, Craig Dixon.

HESTER COLLEGE

RAH Banquet

        Kelly Swartz, Hester College Council President, was honored as Council
Member of the year at Hester’s annual Recognition, Awards, and Honors (RAH)
banquet April 30.  Kelly received a similar award and the Frank Julian
Outstanding Residential College Leader award at the National Residence Hall
Honorary banquet April 27.

        Other RAH winners were Kacie Houghland Jackson and Craig Mione, female
and male athletes of the year;  Emily Just, Silver Swan award for outstanding
contributions by a student who is not a staff or council member;  Amanda
Birkner, Rookie of the Year;  Toni Duncan, Kyser Lough, Kristen Shepard, and
Carrie Westcott, all recipients of the Hedgehog Spirit award; Dana Heerdink
and Robby Osting, who shared the Residential Adviser Service award; and Dr.
Don Bennett, named Faculty/Staff Member of the Year.

        Also honored were Derrik Edwards and Casey Schwartz, who will be
recognized for scholarship and service respectively at Honor’s Day, and
Lindsay Spaulding, named Hester Star Scholar, an award to a student graduating
with a GPA of 3.7 or higher who has been active in college life.

AcademicTournament

        Hester College’s team captured first place with an undefeated record
in the annual residential college Quick Recall Tournament April 5.  Captain
Steven Jolly led team members Amanda Birkner, Emily Just, Robby Osting,
Lindsay Spaulding, Erica Van Buren, and Chad Wyatt to a 6-0 record in the
double elimination tournament. 
Elizabeth College took second place, and
Clark, Regents, and White colleges also competed.


All Campus Sing

        First place in the residential college division of All Campus Sing was
earned by the
Hester College chorus, led by directors Kristen Shepard and
Brian Molloy.  Featuring songs from the ‘90s, the chorus also included Trisha
Allen, Amanda Birkner, Bekah Carmichael, Justyn Carbajal-Adler, Susan Eady,
Natasha Ennels, Annie Kate Hudson, Emily Just, and Chad Wyatt.

Roast

        Casey Schwartz was the reluctant good sport in
Hester College’s end of
semester senior roast.  Four persons Casey once thought were his friendsScott
Gibson (reported by Kyser Lough), Chad Wyatt, Will Conyers, and
Craig Mione--shared anecdotes about Casey with a crowd of about thirty rowdy
spectators, who demanded the performance conclude with Casey’s demonstration
of his version of “the raptor.”


Senior Rock and Roll

        A feature of Hester’s annual luau was signing of both the Hester Rock
and a signature record book (the “Rock Roll”)  by members of this year’s
graduating class.  All Hester seniors in the class of 2003 are invited to come
to the college and sign both rock and roll any time between now and
graduation.  Pens and the book are at the front desk.


All Sports Competition

        Hester College trailed Springer/Franklin by 6 points in the race to
become residential college all sports champion for 2002-03 at the latest
report following golf.  With winning records in tennis and soccer, the only
sports yet to be completed, Hester was well positioned to accumulate enough
points to earn first place for the third time in the last four years.


REGENTS COLLEGE

On April 8th, Regents had a Rebate Night at Mr. Gatti’s. The proceeds went o
Relay for Life.

There was a Program on April 16th, sponsored by the RCC and two of the RA’s.
The Program was called. T.T.D. Sex, Drugs, and War. It was a decades program
and the residents brought an article of white clothing and tie dieing took
place. There was a good turn out and all had a great time.

April 17th the RCC had elections for the 2003-2004 RCC positions. RCC

Congratulations to all of them in being elected!!!
On Election Day there was a vote of what to name the Rhino Mascot and the name
is Rocky.

On Monday,April 21st the RCC sponsored a cookout out in front of Regents “Just
Because” There was a great turnout, we had over 70 people come out and enjoy
the free food and fun!

On Wedsnesday, April 23rd, one of the RA’s had a program named Real Life,
Relay for Life. It was a very moving program. Two guest speakers, Judy Lyle
and Martin Milkman spoke. It was a very good educational program on the risks
of cancer. The program was an insight for all that attended the program of
what it was like in dealing with cancer in real life.
