Testing Information

Free Assessment for Developmental Course Requirements

All Kentucky public colleges and universities are mandated by the Council on Post-Secondary Education to enroll students in appropriate developmental courses when the students' ACT scores in English, reading and/or mathematics are below 18.

Students with a score below 18 in Reading (ACT's 3rd score) are required to take a reading placement test while attending Summer Orientation. A strong score on this reading test allows a student to be placed into a higher level course. Similar tests are available for English and mathematics. Do bring a copy of all ACT scores to your Orientation session.

Assessment tests will be given 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the Freed Curd Auditorium (Room 231) at Collins Industry and Technology Center during

  • Summer O I on Saturday, April 18
  • Summer O II on Friday, June 5
  • Summer O III on Saturday, June 6
  • Summer O IV on Wednesday, June 24
  • Summer O V on Saturday, July 11
  • Summer O VI on Wednesday, July 22
  • Summer O VII on Thursday, July 23

Please arrive early to register for the orientation session and to be seated in the testing room well before 8:30. Parents are invited to attend an information session in Room 237 while their students are testing.

An additional test date is Monday, August 17, at 8:00 a.m. in Lowry Center 1st floor. (This date follows move-in on Saturday, August 15, but is prior to the beginning of classes on Wednesday, August 19.)
