A Taste of the Arts |
|
Dear Alumni and Friends, Murray State University’s fine arts programs are some of the best in the country due in part to the incredible support we receive from our alumni and friends such as you. Currently all three areas of our fine arts programs at Murray State, including music, art and theatre are nationally accredited. Our students receive an outstanding education as well as experience in each of their particular areas. However, in area of scholarships we are striving to make great improvements for our students. We have fallen behind other universities of similar size in the number scholarships we offer. Several of our current scholarships in music, art and theatre are not yet endowed at $25,000. A $25,000 endowed scholarship produces a yearly award of approximately $1,250. In state tuition per semester for a full time student, not including room, board or books, is nearly $3,000. With economic times such as these it becomes quite apparent why scholarships have become an increasingly critical tool in our recruitment efforts of the regions best and most talented students. It is for this reason we are excited to share with you our plans for the first “A Taste of the Arts” Auction and Dinner event. This evening will be like no other fundraising event you have ever attended. There will be music, singing, art displays, delicious food and much more for your enjoyment. Mark your calendar today, “A Taste of the Arts” is scheduled for April 24, 2009. Our success in this endeavor will be based much on the support we receive from our alumni and friends around the region and beyond. You may be asking yourself, “How can I help?” Actually, there are many ways you can help to make this event successful and they can be found here. We hope you will consider supporting this event as you have so many others. Sincerely,
