National Academic Group to Form at the Conference In affiliation with the Murray State Telecommunications conference, April 1-3, 2004, in Louisville, a national organization of telecommunications academic programs will have an organizational meeting on Thursday, April 1, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Several directors of university programs from across the country have met and formulated some guidelines that will be finalized at this year's conference. Charter memberships will be available through the end of the conference. We want to make sure that your program is represented as the initial steps proceed. The issues the organization is addressing are the problems of identity, defining the discipline, the future of telecommunications programs, what the nature of those programs will be, and the certification of programs. One of the topics for discussion will be the affiliation with one or more major organizations in order to give more credibility to the academic group. In addition, the organization will likely take more responsibility for the national conference. We want to have your input into this discussion. |
