Grants to aid MSU programs

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Murray State University two grants totaling $1.1 million to create teaching programs for telecommunications, science and mathematics.

The college of business and the college of science, engineering and technology will use $300,000 to create the Telecommunications Training and Learning Center. The remaining $800,000 will be used by the college of education and the college of science, engineering and technology to create a Center for Teaching Excellence in

Science and Mathematics.

The Telecommunications Training and Learning Center will help public school teachers, students and administrators explore new technologies.

The Center for Teaching Excellence in Science and Mathematics will aid teachers in developing interdisciplinary courses and hands-on activities.
