about Emma

I began working at Murray State University as a student worker, moved on to teach developmental math as an adjunct instructor, and joined the Center for Academic Success as the developmental mathematics coordinator and math instructor in 2014. Currently, my position is instructor and advisor. I teach math (namely co-requisite College Algebra and Mathematical Concepts) and study skills courses. My goals in these subjects are to help students not only learn the content, but to apply the content in real life, to learn how to explore topics, and to become independent learners. My personal interests include most anything Disney, including Marvel, Sudoku and other mind puzzles, traveling and seeing new things, and spending time with family and friends. In my roles as an instructor and advisor, I encourage students to overcome the stigma to seek help from counseling services when they are feeling stressed or in trouble.

about Bobbie

I began teaching at Murray State in the fall of 1998 and have taught public speaking for the past twenty-one years. In addition to COM 161, I’ve also taught playwriting, the theatrical experience, and interpersonal communication. I love helping students find their own voice and gain confidence in their ability to communicate. As a former actor and playwright, it’s a thrill for me to have a captive audience. My philosophy? Learning should be fun and our own learning as teachers should never end. In May of 2020 I will receive my MFA in Creative Writing from Murray State.

about Sarah

I have been working as the Administrative Assistant and Tutoring Coordinator in the Center for Academic Success since Fall 2017. I enjoy getting to know our students and helping them solve whatever problems they come across. I plan to graduate in December 2020 with my Master’s in Postsecondary Education Administration. When I’m not at work or in class, I enjoy going on adventures with my husband and kids (ages 3 and 11), cooking, and discovering new music.
