Departments
Adolescent, Career, and Special Education:
This department offers a variety of programs leading to baccalaureate degrees in middle
and secondary levels of teaching. We also offer degrees in special education, health
and physical education, and career and technical education. There are graduate degrees
in middle, secondary, special education, and career and technical education. All of
our programs are CAEP-accredited.
Center for Communication Disorders:
This center is home to the Murray State University Speech and Hearing Clinic, the
Voice and Swallowing Research Clinic, an undergraduate program in communication disorders,
and a graduate program in speech-language pathology.
Community Leadership and Human Services:
This department prepares professionals for careers in the areas of criminal justice
and social work.
Early Childhood and Elementary Education:
This department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in interdisciplinary early
childhood education (IECE - birth through kindergarten) and in elementary education
(kindergarten through fifth grade). Also offered is a graduate degree in reading and
writing education.
Educational Studies, Leadership, and Counseling:
This department offers an undergraduate degree in human services as well as several
graduate degrees and endorsements, which are divided into the following program areas:
school administration; school counseling; school psychology; individual intellectual
assessment endorsement; clinical mental health counseling; human development and leadership;
library media; postsecondary education administration; and an Ed.D. degree in p-20
and community leadership. All of these school-related programs are CAEP-accredited.
