Dr. Peter Weber
Director of Nonprofit Leadership Studies & Assistant Professor
Peter Weber is an assistant professor and the director of the Nonprofit Leadership Studies program at Murray State University. He holds a doctorate in philanthropic studies from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, as well as a master's in history and a master's in international studies in philanthropy and social innovation, both from the University of Bologna in Italy. His research focuses on the role of civil society and international philanthropy in building democratic practices of governance in fledgling democracies from both a historical and contemporary perspective. He has published his work in peer-reviewed journals, including the two premier journals of the field, Voluntas and the Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly. In recognition of his service to the field of nonprofit studies, he was recognized with the 2013 ARNOVA Emerging Scholar Award and selected as a Future Philanthropic Educator Fellow by the Learning by Giving Foundation.
