History Day Competition

2020 History Day Competition

Murray State’s Department of History hosts West Kentucky History Competition annually. This year’s competition has been split into two parts, with Middle Schools competing on March 10th, 2020, and High Schools competing on March 12th, 2020, at MSU’s Curris Center.

The competition consists of 150-question, multiple-choice tests in United States History and World Civilization to be taken by teams of not more than fifteen students. Middle school students may test either in United States History to 1865 or World Civilization to 1500; High school students may choose United States History since 1865 or World Civilization since 1500. Tiebreaker questions will be based on current events.

Awards will be given for each test at the closing ceremony. There are four INDIVIDUAL AWARDS per exam and SCHOOL AWARDS of first, second, and third place for each test, based on the average score of all team members. Pre-registration is requiredRegistration is due February 17th, 2020.
