2019 NACTA Tours

Murray State University is helping to coordinate great opportunities of local businesses, farming operations, and university research programs for you to tour all within just an hour of Murray!  There will be several opportunities all throughout the week for you to take advantage of different tours in our area, so you are able to choose what interests you and what works best with your schedule. To register for each tour you must enter a password that was provided to you in the Week 3 NACTA 2019 Newsletter that was sent out to all registered coaches on March 30th. All tours have a cap of how many individuals can attend the tour so be sure to sign up fast! 
Tour Opportunities
    Aerosource H- Ballard County, KY
        Aerosource H is a hemp extraction facility that is located in Ballard County, Kentucky. Ballard County is approximatley an hour drive from Murray. The address of the facility will be provided to those individuals who register for this tour at the Conference Registration.
            Tours for Aerosource H will be offered on the following dates and times:
                Thursday, April 11th, 9:30 a.m.
                Thursday, April 11th, 11:00 a.m.
                Thursday, April 11th, 1:30 p.m.

    Ag Connections- Murray, KY
        Ag Connections, a wholly owned subsidiary of Syngenta, is located in Murray, KY. Ag Connections provides crop management software solutions to farmers across the United States and are always looking for new talent to join their team.  The address of Ag Connections will be provided to those individuals who register for this tour at the Conference Registration. 
         Tours for Ag Connections will be offered on the following dates and times:
            Thursday, April 11th, 10 a.m.
            Thursday, April 11th, 2 p.m.
            Friday, April 12th, 10 a.m.
            Friday, April 12th, 2 p.m.

    Commonwealth Agri-Energy and Hopkinsville Elevator Co.
        Commonwealth Agri-Energy and Hopkinsville Elevator Co. are teaming up to offer a tour of their cooperative owned ethanol facility. This tour will be in Hopkinsville, Kentucky which is about an hour drive. The address to this facility will be given to those who register for this tour at the Conference Registration.
            Tours for Commonwealth Agri-Enery and Hopkinsville Elevator Co. will be offered on the following dates and times:
                Thursday, April 11th, 10 a.m.
                Thursday, April 11th,  2 p.m.

    Kough Farms- Calloway County, KY
     
  Kough Farms is a commercial hog producer that produces hogs under contract, and has approved for students to take a tour of their production facility! They are located in Calloway County, Kentucky. Although, if you have been in contact with hogs in the past 30 days you are kindly asked to please not attend this tour. The address for the farm will be given to those who register for this tour at the Conference Registration. 
            Tours for Kough Farms will be offered on the following dates and times:
                Thursday, April 11th, 11 a.m.
                Thursday, April 11th, 12:30 p.m.
                 Thursday, April 11th, 2:00 p.m.

     Murray State Apiary- Pullen Farm
        The Murray State Apiary was started as a student research project and has evolved into a community staple. The Murray State Apiary is located on the Pullen Farm in Murray, KY. Participants will have an opportunity for a walking tour of the Arboretum and the Apiary led by the MSU Beekeepers. The tour will also include viewing an observational hive and discussion of the university's honey production. Directions to the Pullen Farm will be provided to those who register for this tour at the Conference Registration. 
            Tours for the Murray State Apiary will be offered on the following dates and times:
                Friday, April 12th, 11 a.m.
                Friday, April 12th, 12 p.m.

    Murray State University's Equine Center
        Take a tour of our state of the art Equine Center located on the West Farm at Murray State University! The Equine Center is home to our Equine Science Program and our beloved Murray State Equestrian Teams! While visiting the Murray State Equine Center you will have the opportunity to see the Equine Instructional Facility, the University Barn, a lighted outdoor riding arena, and several other facilities!

     Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area
            
We encourage you to take a drive out to the Land Between the Lakes National Receration Area and drive through the Elk & Bison Prairie! The Elk & Bison Prairie is open daily from Dusk to Dawn and is $5/car to drive through the 3.5 mile paved loop to view elk, bison, small game, turkeys, and prairie mammals on the 700-acre enclosure.

    You don't have to sign up to take a tour of the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, you are able to take the tour on your own time! Just put Elk & Bison Prairie Rd, Golden Pond, KY 42211 into your GPS and you will arrive to a beautiful park and nature scenery in just 30 minutes. 


    Purple Toad Winery- Paducah, KY
        Purple Toad Winery is Kentucky's largest winery and is located just a short 45 minute drive from Murray, KY! Purple Toad Winery will be offering tours of their vineyards and wine production facilities. The address to Purple Toad Winery will be given to those individuals who register for this tour at the Conference Registration.
