Who has influenced you the most in your life and why?
My parents have influenced me the most because they are steady, kind, strong and intelligent individuals. They do not waiver regardless of situations. They have raised me to be independent and grounded in my faith and beliefs.
What first sparked your interest in your chosen field?
I have a passion for helping others and place a high value on effective communication. I chose my field of study because it combines both of those things.
What do you want to do after graduation?
I will be pursuing my master's degree in post-secondary education administration at Murray State.
Why did you select Murray State?
From the first time I stepped on campus, Murray felt like home. When I pictured my college experience, I could only imagine it at Murray State. I knew that I could find success and personal growth in a hospitable, growing community.
Who is one of your favorite professors and why?
Dr. Tanya Romero-Gonzalez is one of my favorite professors. She goes above and beyond in the care she shows for her classroom and students. She cares about her students and their success in life and in the classroom. And she is extremely knowledgeable and gifted in teaching and sharing that knowledge.
What is one of your favorite Murray State traditions/experiences?
I love Murray State’s welcome week! I have loved helping freshmen move onto campus and make the transition in their first week. I also help with the midnight pancake dinner the first weekend of the fall semester and it is my favorite tradition!
What is something you’ve accomplished at Murray State that you’re most proud of and why are you proud of it?
I won the faculty choice award and scholarship for the 2018-2019 school year for the organizational communication department. I’m proud of that because I transferred into the department after three semesters in a different department. I had a lot to catch up on but the department is incredible and I’m proud to be a part of it.
What do you think sets Murray State apart from other universities?
For the same reasons I came; Murray State becomes your home. It’s more than just a campus, really. It is a community that loves to see its students succeed. You don’t get that at a lot of other schools.
For a prospective student considering which college to attend, why do you think they should consider attending Murray State?
If you want quality education at an affordable price with classrooms and teachers that care about your success and the ability to build lifetime friendships, I don’t think there’s another university that compares.
