The Murray State University Department of Art & Design and the Clara M. Eagle Gallery present "Dawson," the BFA exhibit in printmaking by Tianna Nawrocki, on view in the Curris Center Gallery from Oct. 27 through Nov. 3, 2017.

Nawrocki, a senior from Murray, Kentucky, is a printmaking student technician as well as a gallery assistant in the Department of Art & Design. Among her many awards are the SGCI Grant in 2017, the Annette Schmidt Scholarship in Art in 2017, the Dean’s Award in 2016 and the Taste of the Arts Scholarship in 2013. Nawrocki also received the Murray Women’s Club Award in 2017.

"Dawson" features etchings and ink on paper works that deal with thoughts on mortality, the passage of time and the strength to overcome obstacles.

About her work, Nawrocki states: I’ve always liked thinking of space and how domestic spaces, especially old houses, suggest lives lived, stories that we’d like to hear. My work emphasizes a lack of presence through empty spaces and discarded objects. This emptiness, combined with the use of domestic imagery, implies a lost or forgotten narrative.

The reception for "Dawson" will be held Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Curris Center Gallery.

Admission is free and open to the public.
