She studied abroad in Prague as part of the KIIS program in summer 2014.
Barnett is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and has served as the Organization of Murray Art Students (OMAS) President from 2014-2016. She was named outstanding senior in Art & Design in 2017.
About the sculptures and drawings in “Yours,” Barnett writes:
I am trying to re-engage with relationships in my life that I feel I have neglected or lack a depth of understanding about. My sculptures serve as memorials to these neglected relationships, while my drawings illustrate my feelings and thoughts through this process of attempting to reconnect. I hope my seeking to make amends reminds others of the importance of empathetic connections and inspires others to do the same.
The reception for “Yours,” will be held Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Clara M. Eagle Upper Gallery.
Admission is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
