Two MFA program alumni, Pamela Johnson Parker and Christopher P. Collins, will read from their work on Sunday, July 8, at 2:30 p.m. in the Clara Eagle Gallery.
Pamela Parker is the author of two chapbooks, "Other Four-Letter Words" and "A Walk through the Memory Palace." Her work has appeared in publications such as Iron Horse Literary Review, New Madrid, American Poetry Journal, Muscadine Lines: A Journal of the South, Language Lessons: Volume 1, Poets on Painting, The Rivers Anthology and Best New Poets 2011. Parker works in the department of art & design at Murray State University and as a freelance medical editor. She received her MFA from Murray State University, where she has also taught humanities, creative writing, contemporary poetry and forms of fiction for the past decade. She serves as the prose editor of the literary magazine Alligator Juniper.
Christopher P. Collins is a former military officer and a 12-year veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve, having completed three overseas combat deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq. He is the 2015 winner of Farmingdale’s Paumanok Poetry Award and has published one poetry chapbook, "Gathering Leaves for War." He holds an MFA from Murray State University and a PhD from the University of Cincinnati. In fall 2018, Collins will join the faculty of the English department at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.
