Creating Healthcare Advancement Opportunities to Promote Rural Kentucky Undergraduate Nursing Excellence

charge flyer decorative

The CHARGE program provides students interested in pursuing a nursing career with additional educational and learning advancement opportunities centered around inspiring those involved to work in the region upon degree completion. CHARGE will provide opportunities through Tier 1 and Tier 2 of the program.

  • Tier 1 of the program is for high school students who are interested in pursuing a nursing degree and want shadowing experience to further explore the career field. This tier of the program will provide students with the opportunity to view the varying needs of the healthcare field and how nursing correlates with the everyday management of a healthcare facility.
  • Tier 2 of the program consists of a month-long experiential learning summer camp for Murray State University Pre-Nursing (1st and 2nd year) students. This tier of the program aims at addressing common barriers collegiate nursing program students face within the Purchase AHEC region such as access to learning resources. Additionally, CHARGE will provide a monetary incentive to all active participants to assist with various financial stressors students may face when enrolled in the collegiate nursing program.

The application deadline for the Purchase AHEC CHARGE High School Program has now passed. Please check back again later for next year's application in SPRING 2024.
