Would you like a career where every day what you do can positively shape and impact the lives of children and families?  If so, consider being an early childhood or elementary teacher!  Education programs at Murray State University are of the highest quality and are NCATE accredited.  Faculty in the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education are experienced teachers with public school experience. 

Undergraduate Programs
The Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education offers baccalaureate degrees in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.  You can take specialized course work and engage in field experiences observing and teaching children.  
 
The Elementary Education and Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education programs are offered on the Murray State University campus and on Murray State University regional campus sites.  Regional campus programs are a collaboration between Murray State University and Hopkinsville, Henderson, Paducah and Hopkinsville Community and Technical Colleges.

Once you successfully complete the bachelor’s program in Elementary Education or Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, you are eligible for Kentucky teacher certification.

Graduate Programs
After you have completed the baccalaureate degree, the next step in the career ladder is enrollment in a graduate program.  Master of Art in Education degrees are offered in Elementary Education Teacher Leadership, Reading and Writing (leading to endorsement) and Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Teacher Leadership and Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education certification programs.  The department also offers a Rank 1 program leading to certification in Library Media.
