MSU Dietetics Accreditation and Credentialing
The Didactic Program in Dietetics is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association, 216 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60606, 312/899-4876.

The goals and outcomes of the Dietetics Program at MSU are as follows:
1. To prepare graduates with foundation knowledge and skills needed to enter a supervised practice component of entry-level dietitian education programs.
Over a five year period, the pass rate for DPD graduates taking the registration examination for the first time will be at least 80%
At least 70% of students who are accepted into the DPD and are enrolled in the professional courses in the third year of the DPD will complete the program requirements within 3 years
The mean rating that DI directors give program graduates will meet or exceed a rating of satisfactory for knowledge base
The mean rating of all parameters rated related to CADE competencies will be at least satisfactory
Over a five year period, at least 80% of graduates who apply to a supervised practice program the academic year they complete the DPD will be accepted.
2. To prepare graduates to obtain employment in responsible positions in the areas of nutrition, dietetics, food service, food production or to continue their education in graduate programs.
Over a five year period, 60% of DPD graduates will apply to supervised practice programs the academic year they complete the program
Within three years of completing the program, 60% of graduates who were not accepted into a supervised practice program will be either employed in a position delivering nutrition or health services or have continued their education in graduate programs
The mean rating that employees give program graduates in their employ will meet or exceed the rating of satisfactory on all parameters measured
3. To contribute to the delivery of nutrition services by preparing nutrition professionals.
Within three years of completing the program at least 60% of graduates who are registered dietitians are employed in a position delivering nutrition services.
4. To provide leadership in dietetics through active participation by graduates and faculty in local, state, and national professional associations.
Students will attend at least one meeting of a professional organization
Within 3 years of completing the program, at least 50% of graduates will be involved in a dietetics professional organization.
At least 50% of graduates will be involved in a dietetics professional organization within 3 years of graduation
