Functions and Responsibilities

A.     The committee fosters a research program(s) for the Department;

B.     The committee develops/designs any needs assessment to be done by the Department;

C.     The committee:

1.      acts as a resource and/or support for individual faculty members who are conducting research and/or writing for publication by:

a.      facilitating mentoring by pairing faculty with others doing a study and/or pairing more experienced faculty with those who have less experience;

b.      establishing internal reviewers (within the department but may include one or two members within the college or university) who would help with proposals and articles for publication;

c.       recommending potential funding opportunities;

d.      maintaining records of faculty scholarly activities of the Department for SPAR;

2.      acts as a resource and/or support for students who are preparing scholarly work for presentation or publication excluding required coursework;

3.      identifies unpublished data within the department and develops goals and strategies to finish these projects and submit for publication;

4.      works closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs;

5.      develops any research/evidence-based practice forums for the department and/or partnering with other institutions;

6.      disseminates the status of current and ongoing research to the faculty;
