Billing Information

Murray State's major student billing operations are centrally administered through the Office of the Bursar.

Amounts owed to various university units, such as Dining Services, the Housing Department, the Public Safety Office and the Murray State library, are added together to represent one total amount due on your student account.

Electronic statements

Every month during the semester, electronic statements are generated to detail any new activity or as a reminder of any unpaid balance on the student's bursar account.

Statements are available to students online through their myGate account - Murray State's electronic billing and payment application, and students are notified of a new statement via e-mail to their Murray State e-mail address.  Students will visit their myGate account (a link will be provided in the email) and will go under their MONEY tab and click on the "My Account" link.  From there, the student will be taken to the billing website where they can view their e-bill and current charges, make a payment, or set up a payment plan. New charges on a bill are typically due on the tenth of the following month. Past due balances must be paid immediately and are subject to late payment fees.

Murray State students view and pay their bursar bills online via the student myGate account - an electronic billing and payment system. Although the University has advanced to all electronic billing, the myGate account is just one of many options students have for paying their bursar bill. When a new statement is available, students are sent notification via their Murray State e-mail address, the official means of communication at Murray State. Through their myGate account, students have the option to set up "authorized payers," usually parents or guardians, who are then able to view and/or pay the student's bill.  The authorized users will receive an email (identical to the email received by all students billed through the university) and will then be able to go directly to the payment site and log-in with their own unique user ID and password.  They will no longer be required to reach the link through the student myGate account.

Students with financial aid who might expect to receive a refund from the Office of the Bursar are encouraged to sign up for direct deposit. Direct deposit is the most efficient and convenient way to handle refunds
