If visiting on a day that students are on campus is important to you, please keep the following dates in mind while scheduling your campus visit.
Campus Visits & Tours
Murray State University welcomes visitors to campus most weekdays, as well as select Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters. Because space is limited, we encourage you to schedule your visit well in advance.
Summer Campus Visits
Summer Campus Visits (May through August) begin at 8:30, 9:00, 10:30 and 11:00am and 1:00pm. We do not host Saturday visits during the summer.
While our campus tour is initially a walking tour, we will take all precautions to make the tour as comfortable as possible. We will provide water prior to the tour and will go into as many air conditioned buildings as possible. Additionally, during extreme heat, we will try to acquire a vehicle (van/mini-bus) in order to do a driving tour. However, depending upon availability of a vehicle and the size of the group, this option may not always be possible.
Therefore, we suggest the following in order to make your visit as comfortable as possible:
Check the local weather prior to arriving.
Drink plenty of water. Avoid caffeine, which can dehydrate the body.
Dress for the heat. Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing. Light colors will reflect some of the sun's energy. It is also a good idea to wear wide brimmed hats or to use an umbrella. Always apply sunscreen to exposed skin. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
Avoid eating a large meal before you arrive.
Avoid foods that are high in protein which increase metabolic heat.
Note: Because of limited times and availability of classes/professors on campus during the summer, we cannot guarantee academic department visits.
