Do you want to join the Safe Zone Project at Murray State University?
The Safe Zone Project, through education, advocacy, visibility, and skill development, supports faculty, staff, and student employees to become allies for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students and colleagues. The Project is designed to radically reduce prejudice and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression at Murray State University by creating a safe and affirming campus. The Safe Zone symbol sends a message that the person or unit displaying it has decided to be an active and visible ally, can be trusted to maintain confidentiality, and will respond to the individual with understanding, support, and empathy.
By joining, I commit to the following avoid labeling, be an advocate, advisor, teacher, or mentor to students seeking my support, and consult with other LGBT/allied faculty and staff for feedback on support when needed to advise an LGBT student. Above all, I agree to act with compassion, respect, and dignity. I will notify Jody Cofer Randall or Dr. Josh Adair if I can no longer serve in this role and need to have my name removed from the project’s participant list.
Upon receipt of this form, you will be sent a Safe Zone symbol via campus mail to display in your office/area.
