Applications for non-traditional student-specific scholarships are due June 1. Non-traditional student applicants must also submit a letter/essay explaining their financial circumstances or break in studies and a list of activities outlining any awards, achievements, and involvement in academic, civic, community, church, or work activities.

In order to be considered for other competitive scholarships (beyond the non-traditional student-specific scholarships) please have your admission application/information, scholarship application and required documents submitted by January 15.

A non-traditional student is one who meets any of the following criteria:

  • 23 or older
  • Financially independent
  • Works full time
  • A spouse or parent
  • A veteran
  • Had a break between high school and college

You can submit the application online by selecting the "Apply for Scholarships Online" if you will be a new student to MSU.

If you are a current MSU student, please log into myGate to submit your application on the Money tab.
