Communication Disorders Program
Welcome to the Communication Disorders website. A communication disorder can have a devastating impact on an individual that can be pervasive across the individual’s social roles and relationships. The professions of speech-language pathology and audiology are exciting fields and well respected professions that work with the full range of human communication disorders across the life span. The Murray State University Communication Disorders Program offers an undergraduate degree in communication disorders that provides students with the foundation they need for graduate study in audiology or speech-language pathology. The program also offers a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. The graduate program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA). The program has maintained continuous accreditation since 1982. In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum our program is proud of the Murray State University Speech-and Hearing Clinic which provides speech, language and hearing services to the community while creating a clinical learning environment for our students. Upon completion of the master’s degree, nine months of supervised professional experience, and a passing score on a national exam, graduates of the program are eligible for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). This certification is the nationally recognized professional credential awarded by the American Speech and Hearing Association that is required for professional practice in most work settings.
