Career Profiles

There are over 1.5 million different nonprofit organizations in our country alone millions of other organizations around the world. The nonprofit sector is the fastest growing sector and there are over 50,000 new positions each year. Many national nonprofit organizations partner with AH/YNL which means they pay an affiliation fee just to have the opportunity to work closely with our students and to offer career positions as they are graduating. These organizations include the American Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Boy and Girl Scouts of America, Big Brothers Big Sisters, 4-H, and the YMCA to mention several. AH/YNL graduates also work in colleges, hospitals, and ministries.

Jan Arnold, who graduated in the early 90s from the AH/YNL program at MSU is now the Vice President of the Chicago Metro YMCAs.

Robert Lanon, a former member of the MSU football team and a YNL graduate now directs a Boys and Girls Club in Louisville, KY. A more recent graduate, Michelle Hansen became the first director for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program right here in Murray and now serves as the Director of the Murray Family Resource Center. These are just a few examples of what you can do with your YNL degree.

For a list of nonprofit organizations, the textbook, Knowledge and Skill Development in Nonprofit Organizations by Weis and Gantt is available in the MSU bookstore and a partial list can be obtained by e-mailing Holly Brandon at holly.brandon@murraystate.edu.
