The master's program in Communication Disorders and Sciences at Murray State University meet the certification requirements for Certificate of Clinical Competence of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and professional licensure requirements in Kentucky and most other states. Additionally, students may meet certification requirements for Kentucky Teacher Certification.
ASHA Accreditation
The graduate program of Speech-Language Pathology is accredited by the
Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association (ASHA). The program has maintained continuous ASHA accreditation
since 1982. Upon completion of the master's degree and nine months of
supervised professional experience, graduates of the program are eligible
for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). The CCC is the professional
accreditation that is recognized in every state and required for professional
practice in most work settings.
Teacher Certification
Students who want to practice as an SLP in the Kentucky schools must meet an additional set of requirements in order to receive K-12 Certification. Specific undergraduate courses must be taken before a student can meet qualifications for a teaching certificate. At MSU these courses are:

Note: Certification also requires a grade of B or better in one English composition course and a grade of C or better in a University studies math course.
