American Industrial Hygiene Association - (AIHA)
The Murray State University AIHA Student Local Chapter is a professional organization that focuses on issues related to industrial hygiene. Its main function is to promote academic excellence and professionalism among its members. Some of the benefits associated with this organization are national recognition, AIHA privileges, first-hand knowledge of available jobs locally and nationally, and chapter's scholarship. All student members are encouraged to actively attend all meetings and contribute to the chapter's activities such as raising funds, promoting speakers and topics of interest, and becoming more involved in the department's functions. Currently the student chapter is being advised by Dr. Atieh. Dues for joining the AIHA both nationally and locally are as the following: American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) - The mission of the American Society of Safety Engineers is to serve as a means to enhance the status, and promote the advancement of all safety disciplines; foster the technical, scientific, and managerial knowledge and skills of all safety and health professionals. The student section supports the philosophies of the Purchase Chapter with regard to professional development of its members. Activities include hosting a Job Shadow Day, a Career Day, and the annual Stallion Classic Golf Tournament. The organization also invites safety professionals to speak at meetings. In addition, the Student Section assists with the MSU Occupational Safety and Health Spring Event, and the annual Governor's Kentucky Safety, Health Conference, and various community service related projects.  Rho Sigma Kappa

Semiconductor Environmental Safety and Health Association (SESHA) - SESHA is a professional organization dedicated to communication and education concerning environmental, health and safety issues relating to the electronics and high technology industries.  Murray State University is home to SESHA's first student chapter.  All student members are encouraged to attend and participate in all chapter events.  The student chapter is being advised by Dr. Kraemer.
