All students registered at Murray State University that currently have a zero balance with the university at time of participation are eligible under the following guidelines:
- To be considered eligible, players must be identified on the nightly game sheet provided by the Campus Recreation Office. Any player that is not identified will not be allowed to participate in that particular game. Identified players must present their MSU ID to the Supervisor in charge in order to be checked in. Identified players are those who have complete information on the roster (name, signature, social security number and phone number). Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen ID cards.
- Current college athletes that are associated with any MSU varsity team will not be eligible to participate as an intramural player for that particular sport (any other sport is fine).
- This includes any athlete that is actively working out with the team, receiving grants or aid, on the roster, or is considered a "redshirt" player.
- Teams are encouraged to use these athletes as coaches or officials, but NEVER a player. In those intramural sports that proceed the varsity season, team membership will be determined by the previous year’s roster.
- Any team found to be playing with a MSU varsity athlete will be penalized a forfeit for every contest that the ineligible player participated, ineligible for any tournament play, and possible dropped from the league.
- Any student, faculty or staff that has received a "letter" from any university, college or junior college, or has professional experience, must sit out of intramural play for a period of TWO ACADEMIC YEARS. Any student that has participated for a Div. II or III, NAIA or Junior College that did not have a "lettering" system in place must sit out ONE ACADEMIC YEAR after the last season in which they participated.
- Members of MSU Sport Club teams are limited to two club team players per game in their related sport. Example- Joe, Bob, Phil, and Stuart all play Club Soccer and all want to be on the same intramural soccer team; all their names may be on the roster, but only two will be allowed to play per match. They may not substitute for each other in one game. A sport club member is one who participates with his / her team in ANY game or match against another team outside MSU. A sport club member is a member of the club only in the academic year in which he / she participates.
- Any player who knowingly participates under an assumed name will be barred from further competition for the remainder of that season. His/her team will then forfeit every match in which he/she participated. His/her team may not participate in the tournament, and the team could possibly be removed from the league. Campus Recreation Supervisors will immediately stop any game which has an illegal player.
