Leadership Series Workshops 2007-2008

Student Organizations

Murray State believes that your life outside the classroom is just as important as what you do inside the classroom.

The faculty and staff feel that in order to have a full and rich educational experience students should get involved with as many student organizations and activities as their schedule will permit. Not only will students feel a greater sense of belonging to Murray State and its traditions, but they will be better prepared to enter the work force because they will have a greater understanding of balancing work, relaxation, and campus activities, as well as a sense of accomplishment. If a student carefully plans out-of-class activities, it will help to guarantee that student will become one of those well-prepared citizens of the world.

Murray State offers many leadership opportunities through involvement in any of the 200 student organizations on campus. One of the services provided by the Student Organizations Office is maintaining a registered student organization directory. In the directory you will find all the registered student organizations on campus listed by category or alphabetically; included will be the organizations purpose statement and contact information. Feel free to email the organizations with your questions.

There is a wide range of activities offered through involvement in student organizations. A student can take part in activities in each of the following eleven categories: Departmental, Environmental, Greek, Honor Societies, Open, Political, Professional, Religious, Residential, Service, and Sports/Recreation Organizations. The Student Organizations Office encourages each MSU student to get involved.

Another service offered by the Student Organizations Office is the opportunity to create a Co-Curricular Record (CCR). By completing the proper paperwork each semester with the Student Organizations Office, a student can receive a copy of their CCR. This allows the students to create a personalized record of their involvement at Murray State University.
