The goal in this paper is to develop and test a Leading Economic
Indicators Index (LEI) to forecast the short-term behavior of the
economy in the Fargo, ND-Moorhead, MN Metropolitan Statistical Area
(FM)…All together [the] tests indicate that the index of local economic
indicators for the FM MSA performs a respectable job at predicting
changes in local employment conditions.
