Murray State University offers its students a wide variety of opportunities to study abroad. Majors and minors in a foreign language are especially encouraged to spend at least one summer abroad. For more information, visit the Institute for International Studies and the Kentucky Institute for International Studies.

Of particular interest to foreign language students are the following programs:


Summer Programs (5-6 weeks)

  • Bregenz, Austria (German language and culture, business, and a variety of other courses)

  • China (History)

  • Paris, France (French and humanities)

  • Munich, Germany (German courses)

  • Japan (Japanese language and culture, history, and art history)

  • Morelia, Mexico (Spanish and humanities)

  • Madrid/Segovia, Spain (Spanish courses)

  • Athens, Greece/Rome, Italy (English/History)

  • Salzburg, Austria (Music)

  • Italy (Art/Humanities)


Semester Programs
  • Dijon, France (full range of French courses at the University of Burgundy's International Center)

  • Regensburg, Germany (Business, German, humanities, and fine arts)

  • Segovia, Spain (two years of Spanish required for Spanish option; no language requirement for honors option)

  • Morelia, Mexico (two years of Spanish required for Spanish option; no language requirement for humanities option)

  • Kansai GVaidai, Japan (Japanese, humanities, fine arts, and business)
