Art and Objects from the Permanent Collection
July 1 - October 4
A selection of work from the permanent collection spanning over a century focusing on the figure as a complex and rich subject in art. One additional piece was added to the show in honor of artist Ben Mahmoud who passed away in June 2009.
Creatures Great and Small
October 23 - December 6
Reception: Friday, October 23, 6 pm
Since human beings have been creating images and objects, animals- both real and fantastic- have endured as compelling subject matter for a variety of reasons. Many contemporary artists use animals to examine a wide range of issues including: spiritual, ethical, social, political, environmental, and personal. This exhibition aims to explore how and why artists depict animals as a way to better understand our selves and our world.
FREE PUBLIC WORKSHOP: Saturday, October 24, artist Anastasia Ward will give a FREE parent/child workshop (for kids ages 9-12). The participants learn about basic circuitry by building motion detectors and switches out of house hold objects, then using those switches to control lights, sound, and motors. Please call Becky at 270-809-6734 for more information.
