Preparing for Interior Design
Educational preparation for
Interior Design should include a high school college preparatory
curriculum that includes geometry and algebra. Courses in CAD/Drafting,
computers and art/design are a plus, but are not required. The
four-year bachelor of science program requires the completion of ??
semester hours, emphasizing design, architecture, CAD and other
technical courses. The Interior Design program is termed an "area"
rather than a "major." An area requires 80 hours of technical
courses and the student is not required to supplement this with a
minor. This approach produces a graduate with much more knowledge
and experience in his/her field of study.
