On July 1, 2014, the blending
of the College of Education with the Department of Community Leadership
and Human Services and with the Center for Communication Disorders
became a reality. This is an exciting time as we move
ahead with new colleagues, an expanded array of disciplines, and so many
enhancements to offer our students. Located in Alexander
Hall, the Carr Health Building, and Applied Science (South), this
College will have a large footprint on campus.
new College represents an outstanding blending of the best of the best
in both formal and non-formal education programs. From elementary
education to nonprofit leadership studies, from principal preparation to
social work, from interdisciplinary early childhood education to
communication disorders, from environmental education to recreation and
leisure services, from school counseling to criminal justice (to name
only a few), this College will have so much to offer our students and
community. This synergy will yield an abundance of remarkable offerings
for our students and we are truly excited about what lies ahead!

News & Highlights:
Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ) released its 2014 Teacher Prep
Review, evaluating 1,612 teacher preparation programs across the
country. The Murray State Elementary Education undergraduate program was ranked highest in the state while the Secondary Education undergraduate program was ranked second highest in the state.
Nationally, the Murray State Elementary Education undergraduate program ranked 47th in nationally while the Secondary Education undergraduate program ranked 5th nationally. Murray State University earned national "Top Ranked" status - a distinction awarded to only 107 programs in the nation for overall strong performance!
