| The following campus events explore issues central to It’s Kind of a Funny Story. When you attend these events, we hope that you not only gain a richer understanding of these topics, but also of It’s Kind of a Funny Story.
Psychology Panels on Mental Illness Dr. Angie Trzepacz, the Director of the Psychological Center, and several graduate clinical psychology students will present on the presentation of mental illness and treatment in the 2009 FRE text, Ned Vizzini's It's Kind of a Funny Story, suicide, how to recognize symptoms of depression, what to do if you suspect you or someone else is depressed, and the available therapy treatment options. Presentations will be followed by a question and answer period. Panels are scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, from 2:30 to 3:30, and Thursday, October 15, from 2 to 3:30 in FH 208. October through December 19: FRE Essay Competition We are currently accepting essay submissions for the 2008 FRE essay competition. You may submit your essay on any aspect of It's Kind of a Funny Story to one of two categories: one exclusively for first-year students, and the other open to any other current Murray State University student. In each category, judges will award a $350 prize for first place and a $150 prize for second place. The deadline for submission is Friday, December 19, 2008.
