This group, which serves as an advisory committe to the program director, sponsors a variety of extracurricular activities. From the opening freshman retreat to the end of the year picnic, the council seeks to activley engage all program members. Student representatives of honors programs throughout the commonwealth meet twice a year in order to engage in an idea exchange which has a bearing on the intellectual and cultural breadth of Kentucky. Held in a major southern city in the spring of each year, this gathering brings students from throughout the South to participate in seminar presentations and to interact in a social setting. This is an organization that holds a fall meeting each year. It exposes participants to speakers of national reputation while affording students a platform to share their own views on issues of significant intelligent merit. Anyone pursuing an honors diploma must fulfill a study abroad component. The requirement for study abroad is designed to enhance the education a student received from the Honors Program.
