Corey
Crider, a 1999 Murray State University graduate, was recently
selected to join the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Crider was
previously with the Florida Grand Opera in Miami.
Beginning
in May 2008, Crider will join fellow opera singers in Chicago
to participate in one of the four premier opera apprenticeship
programs in the U.S.
“My
training and experiences at Murray State prepared me for
my professional singing career. It’s rewarding to look back
over the past eight years and see all the steps I’ve taken
to accomplished my goals,” says Crider.
Dr.
Randall Black, professor of music at MSU and Crider’s former
musical performance professor, says, “Corey is one of the
most talented, giving individuals I have ever known. When
he sings, you can not take your eyes or ears away from him.
Corey created such a powerful presence during his performance
that the entire audience held their breath. He is truly
an amazing performer.”
