1. PAYROLL SPECIALIST (G12), Department of Accounting and Financial Services. Regular, full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Salary $11.92 per hour. Education and/or experience: A bachelor's degree in a business related field with two years of general payroll experience or an associate's degree in a business related field with four years of payroll experience are required. A bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred. Skills in the use of Excel and Word are required, with skills in Access Database preferred; a test in these skills is required. Responsibilities will include preparing and entering payroll data within a computerized payroll system, processing and auditing payroll data, maintenance and analysis of payroll accounts, and preparation of internal payroll reports. Candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Candidate must also be detail oriented, able to complete tasks with accuracy in a timely and efficient manner within specified deadlines. 2. BRICK MASON (G11), Facilities Management. Regular, full-time position. Salary $11.01 per hour. Education and/or experience: High school graduate or equivalent with four years previous experience in masonry work required. Ability to read blue prints desirable. Training as an apprentice or vocational school courses helpful. Must be able to operate mechanical or electrical equipment such as mixer, masonry saws, electric impact hammer and tools and equipment used for the carpentry trade. Must have a thorough knowledge of safe working procedures and must possess a valid driver's license. Duties include performing masonry construction by mixing mortar and carrying bricks, blocks, and other materials, and performing other tasks of the carpentry trade. 3. PATROL OFFICER-Certified Police Position (G11), Department of Public Safety. Regular, full-time position with Kentucky Employees Retirement System hazardous duty retirement coverage. Salary $14.51 per hour plus KLEPF. Education and/or experience: High school graduate or equivalent with two years of law enforcement or related experience required. Experience may be exchanged with college education year-for-year. Must possess valid driver's license, be free of a criminal record and any pending criminal court action must be disclosed. Must have a neat personal appearance and be able to operate effectively under pressure and adverse conditions. Must obtain the ability to investigate violations and complaints. Must possess good public relations skills and be able to work closely with others. Responsibilities include conducting regular vehicle and/or foot patrol on campus; documenting all activities in computer Records Management System according to National Incident Based Reporting requirements; and aiding and assisting students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Must possess good communication skills, both written and verbal. 4. COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR (G10), Public Safety. Regular, full-time position. Salary $11.45 per hour. Education and/or experience: High school graduate or equivalent required and must be at least twenty-one years of age. Must have two years of previous work experience in the emergency operations/telecommunication field or a position requiring similar duties and responsibilities. Related college education may be exchanged for a portion of the experience requirement. Two years of college preferred. Must be free of a criminal record and any pending criminal court action must be disclosed. Must have a neat personal appearance and be able to function in a high stress environment. Alertness, excellent memory for oral and written directions and details, and ability to make decisions and operate effectively under pressure are required. Must have computer skills with knowledge of software packages such as Microsoft Word and Access. A keyboarding test is required. Must demonstrate ability to learn university rules and regulations; university layout (buildings, farms, streets, etc.); university personnel; police communication equipment; alarm systems; recording systems; and paging system. Experience related to public safety/public relations is desirable. Responsibilities include dispatching police officers, fire department, ambulances, and student patrol personnel; police communications record keeping; university information; and other related activities. Will be required to work holidays and fill vacancies during vacations, sickness, etc., possibly with short notice and on any shift. 5. SERVICEMAN B (G10), Facilities Management (Environmental Controls). Regular, full-time position. Salary $10.20 per hour. Education and/or experience: High school graduate or equivalent with specialized training in the field of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning required. Must have a minimum of three years experience in the field of air conditioning, refrigeration, heating and ventilation equipment installation. Responsibilities include servicing, installing, repairing, and operating all types of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment and their related controls, which include all component parts. Applicant should be capable of performing work duties without close direct supervision. Applicant should possess a valid Journeyman HVAC Mechanic License issued by the State of Kentucky or be capable of obtaining license within three years of the date of employment. 1. ACADEMIC COUNSELOR, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. NCAA Division 1AA/Ohio Valley Conference. Full-time, 12 month position to begin July 2008. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. Previous full-time experience in academics and NCAA compliance preferred. Previous experience advising college student-athletes at the NCAA Division 1 level preferred. Ability to work well with students, faculty, community, and media. Demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Responsibilities: Assist in managing a comprehensive advising and counseling program for student-athletes in cooperation with the members of the Intercollegiate Athletic Council (IAC), other University units, and various governing eligibility and rules committees. Maintain a liaison relationship with various University units to facilitate student progress. Assist the coaches in assigned sports with the academic requirements of their recruits. Establish, maintain, and monitor academic records of assigned teams. Monitor class attendance and course performance of student-athletes. Develop information on academic obligations, athletic eligibility and any other issues relating to the student-athletes in order to assist them in maintaining appropriate academic progress. Operate under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Operations. Serve on University and NCAA committees. 2. INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST, Kentucky Academy of Technology Education (KATE) Murray State University. Full-time position to begin August 1, 2008. 6. EXECUTIVE CHEF, Food Services. Full-time, 12-month position to begin August 2008. Qualifications: Culinary degree from an accredited Culinary Institute or School required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. Proof of demonstrated competency as a culinary professional required. A minimum of five (5) years experience in a large volume (3000 covers per day) overseeing ordering, menu management and production preferred. Previous experience in supervisory, inventory control, and emphasis on menu planning and design required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, excellent organization and the ability to teach preparatory and production skills is required. The ability to lift up to 60 lbs from the floor using proper lifting technique is required. Responsibilities: Overseeing kitchen production, kitchen operation, coordinating with dining room management to oversee and delegate, track and manage the production of menus including pre and post production information.
