Lonnie Sinclair ’55 was recently honored by the Windsor (Mo.) school board
which named the L.G.
Sinclair Technology Center after him for his 39 years of service to the school
district. He is a retired
educator and coach and lives in Barnhart, Mo.
Estelle Riggs Barnes ’56 is author of the recently published book, Alfred.
She is a retired English teacher
and lives in Princeton, Ky.
Blanton Croft ’56 has relocated to Hagerstown, Md., where he is a part-time
speech professor at
Hagerstown Community College.
Frank ’56 ’58 and Dottie Slettvet Wendryhoski ’56 are retired
educators in Shelby Township, Mich.
Howard “Zip” Lindner ’59 ’60 is clubhouse valet captain
during the summer months at Monmouth Park
race track. He live in Langhorne, Pa.

Ben Garwood ’61 ’72 and his wife, Mary, author of Pawprints Upon
My Heart, are state licensed animal
rehabilitators and founders of an animal rescue organization. They live in Rockford,
Ill.
Dr. Ricardo Artigas ’62 has been named one of the 100 Most Influential
Hispanics by Hispanic Business
Magazine. He is CEO of GE Energy Services in Atlanta and a 1997 Distinguished
Alumnus of Murray
State University.
Suzanne Bell Kollmann ’64 has been named 2002 Illinois Ag in the Classroom
Teacher of the Year. She is
a 6th grade teacher at Altamont (Ill.) Unit #10.
Philip Carrico ’66 received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kentucky
Library Association. He is
a retired librarian in Sparta, Ky.
Dan Edwards ’68 was named 2002 Teacher of the Year at Wabash Valley College
in Mt. Carmel, Ill., where he is the lead instructor in the radio/television
department and also teaches
philosophy and logic. His
wife, the former Beth Cole ’69 ’72 is head of the English department
at Reitz High School in Evansville,
Ind.
Judy Linder Shaner Mallory ’68 ’72 ’77 has been appointed Division
Director for Exceptional Children
Services for the Kentucky Department of Education. She lives in Louisville, Ky.
Dr. Dana Chism McMahon ’68 received the Eugene Charles Wittick Teaching
Excellence Award. She is
associate professor of education at the College of the Ozarks and lives in Springfield,
Mo.
Dr. Marti Erwin ’69 is operations counsel for HCA Inc., with hospitals
in New Hampshire, South Carolina
and Georgia and surgery centers in north Florida. She lives in Nashville, Tenn.

1970s
Joe Chaney ’70 received the 2002 Max G. Carman Outstanding Teacher Award
from the Student
Government Association. He is a senior lecturer at Murray State University and
also an attorney.
Dave ’70 and Linda Reiss Nesbitt ’70 retired from real estate investing
and divide their time between Ft.
Myers, Fla., and Hayesville, N.C.
Dr. Jay Rayburn ’70 ’73 has been named to the Universal Accreditation
Board of the Public Relations
Society of America. He is a professor at Florida State University.
Barbara Frank ’71 received the 2002 Community Pioneer Award for volunteer
service to the community.
She helped raise funds and volunteered with several organizations in the Purchase
area. She is a
photographer and lives in Mayfield, Ky.
Mark C. Van Sluyters ’71 has retired from teaching after 31 years and is
now an education program
assistant at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame at Saratoga Springs,
N.Y. He lives in
Newtonville, N.Y.
Pam McNeill Fee ’72 has relocated from Tennessee to Paducah, Ky., where
she teaches at Lone Oak
Middle School.
Col. (ret.) Barbara Wilder ’75 recently graduated from Clemson University
with a certificate as master
gardener and was featured in the Greenville (S.C.) Journal as Gardner of the
Month for her community
volunteer work. Her husband, Col. (ret.) William Wilder ’75, volunteers
with the Greenville Free Clinic.
Both are registered nurses.
Ronnie Gammon Arnett ’76 ’91 ’98 is a social worker with the
Anchorage (Alaska) School District.
Dr. Cathy Cole ’76 ’77 has been named acting executive assistant
to University of Tennessee President
Designate John Shumaker. She lives in Nashville, Tenn.
Charles Lynn ’77 was recently certified as a member of the American Institute
of Certified Planners and
also received the International City/County Management Association Credentialed
Manager designation.
He is village manager of Wellington, Fla.
James Lukeman ’78 is regional director of gift development with the University
of Illinois Foundation. He
lives in Champaign, Ill.
James Long M.D. ’79 has been named medical director of the Lourdes hospital
outpatient Diabetes Center.
He is a physician with Internal Medicine Group and chief of staff at Lourdes
in Paducah, Ky.
1980s
Kimber Barton ’81 has joined New England Financial as managing associate
and investment specialist. He
lives in Franklin, Tenn.
Julia Dianne Brown ’84 is owner of Arctic Wolf Communications, a consulting
firm specializing in
government and power industry contracts. She lives in Las Vegas.
Scott Cooper ’84 has relocated to Bowling Green, Ky., where he is farm
services manager with the
Monsanto Co.
Trisha Lumi ’85 has been promoted to production vice president for American
Mutual Lending. She lives
in Laguna Niguel, Calif.
Joy A. Ready ’85 is a licensed minister, founder and director of King’s
Club International Ministries, an
inner city ministry serving 1000 children. The ministry also has a site in Nigeria,
Africa, serving 300
children. She lives in Urbana, Ill.
Lt. Col. Joseph Rose ’85 ’93 has been promoted to lieutenant colonel
in the U.S. Army and is operations
officer for the Army Chemical Biological Rapid Response Team. He lives in Gunpowder,
Md.
Dr. Karen Russo ’85 is a scientific liaison at the U.S. Pharmacopeia in
Rockville, Md. She lives in
Montgomery Village, Md.
Carolyn Walker Tinsley ’86 ’01 recently received the Creativity Award
at the Catholic Healthcare Partners
Annual Clinical Education Summit for Nursing. She is a critical care educator
at Lourdes and lives in
Paducah, Ky.
Vishwas Talwalkar M.D. ’89 is assistant professor of orthopedic surgery
at Shriners Hospital for Children
and the University of Kentucky.
1990s
Anthony Coates ’90 has accepted the position of regional operations center
manager for Charter
Communications in Vancouver, Wash.
Dr. Tami Harboldt ’91 has published Bridging the Bond: The Cultural Construction
of the Shelter Pet. She
is a teacher and lives in Louisville, Ky.
Diane Fitzgerald Nelson ’92 received a master’s degree in business
administration from Southern Illinois
University-Edwardsville. She lives in Alton, Ill.
Chris Satterwhite ’92 is foreman and truck driver with Satterwhite Farms.
His wife, the former Lisa Farris
’ 91, is assistant director of the Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce.
They live in Murray.
Adam Chambers ’93 earned a master’s degree in environmental management
from Yale University and is
an environmental engineer with the Environmental Protection Agency. He lives
in New York City.
Cindy Watson ’94 is coordinator of the Even Start Family Literacy Program
for McCracken County (Ky.)

John “JC” Carter ’95 is assistant track coach for the Colorado
State University track and field team which
won the 2002 Mountain West Conference indoor track championship. He lives in
Fort Collins, Colo.
John Hutson M.D. ’95 has completed his medical residency and is board certified
in internal medicine. He
is a hospitalist at Anne Arundel Medical Center and lives in Annapolis, Md.
Scott Ford ’96 is manager of Northlake Retail. He lives in Lawrenceville,
Ga.
Tammy Hatfield ’96 is assistant director of the Women’s Center at
Old Dominion University and also
serves as coordinator of the Sexual Assault Free Environment program. She lives
in Norfolk, Va.
Kimberly Sutton ’97 is an associate attorney with Husch & Eppenberger
practicing business litigation. She
lives in Morton, Ill.
Maria Geraldi ’98 has been named 2002-03 Teacher of the Year at Riverside
Elementary School She lives
in Smyrna, Ga.
Jonathan Greene ’98 is a board certified physician assistant with Murray
Oncology Associates.
Cayce Travis ’98 is a graduate student at Columbia (N.Y.) University.

Jennifer Harris ’00 is a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher at Fairdale Elementary
in Jefferson County. She lives in
Louisville, Ky.
Kristi Knifley Hill ’00 has been promoted to senior accountant with BKD,
LLP. She lives in Bowling
Green, Ky.
Tim Millenbine ’00 recently purchased his second Dairy Queen located in
Fairfield, Ill. He is owner and
president of Millenbine Enterprises Inc.
Jessica Todd ’01 is an assistant manager with Wal-Mart in Chesterfield,

Dr. Sandra Flynn died Nov. 30, 2002. She was associate provost and associate
professor of educational
leadership at Murray State University.
Hontas Kelly Houston ’29 died Dec. 6, 2002. She was a life member of the
MSU Alumni Association.
Joe Torrence ’31 died Sept. 10, 2002. He was a former member of the MSU
Foundation Board of Trustees
and the MSU Alumni Association Board of Governors. He also was a life member
of the MSUAA and a
1971 Distinguished Alumnus.
Willard Bagwell ’33 died Dec. 6, 2002. He was a member of the MSU Basketball
Hall of Fame.
Clint Bugg ’35 died Oct. 10, 2002.
Julia Dixon Hammack ’37 died Aug. 21, 2002.
Wilson Gantt ’41 ’47 died Nov. 10, 2002. He was the retired registrar
and dean of admissions at MSU, a
life member and past president of the MSU Alumni Association and a 1993 Golden
Horseshoe recipient.
Dr. Hunter Hancock ’47 died Jan. 28. He was a former professor of biological
sciences and chairman
of the biology department at Murray State and was instrumental in establishing
the biological research
station at Kentucky Lake that bears his name.
Tommy Walker ’47 died Dec. 6, 2002. He was a life member of the MSU Alumni
Association, former
member of the MSUAA Board of Governors, a past president of the Nashville, Tenn.,
alumni chapter and a
1992 Golden Horseshoe recipient.
Olen Foster Martin Jr. ’49 died Jan. 14. He was the founder and band leader
of the Len Foster Orchestra, a
2001 Golden Horseshoe recipient and a life member of the MSU Alumni Association.
