    Founded in 1922, Murray State
University has grown from an
enrollment of 202 to more than 10,000.
Murray State University has been
ranked among the top 25 percent of
Southern regional and liberal arts
colleges in U.S. News and World
Report's annual publication, America's
Best Colleges. Recognition of MSU
programs is reflected in accreditations.
Murray State has been continuously
accredited by the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools
(SACS) since 1928.
 
Located in the Jackson Purchase lake area of west Kentucky, Murray State is a tax-
supported university with five academic colleges. The university's main campus is in
Murray, a city of 17,000. The main campus comprises 71 major buildings, including
classroom and office buildings, and two libraries.

An American Treasure
Murray was one of only six public
universities in the nation to be
selected by Kaplan, Inc. as a "Hidden

Treasure." The honor was based on the results of a Market Measurement, Inc., national
survey of high school guidance counselors.

A "Best Deal"
Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine ranked Murray as one of America's Top 40 Public
Universities for overall academic quality and affordable tuition. We were also honored as
one of the nation's Top Nine Universities in "Best Out-of-State Deals."

U.S. News and World Report ranked Murray as the South's best public master's university
in their list of "Great Schools at a Great Price." Here, your investment is sound.

Satisfied Customers
According to a Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education statewide survey of
recent graduates, Murray outranks all Kentucky public universities in "graduate and

alumni satisfaction."

Murray State ranked "Very Competitive" by Barron's Profiles of American Colleges
Barron's Profiles of American Colleges describes itself as the "Students' #1 Choice" in
college
guidebooks. The guidebook describes 1,650 institutions. The "very competitive"
university status is based on data compiled and edited by the College Division of
