Regent Alan StoutAlan Stout, Chair
Alan Stout of Marion was elected to serve as chair of the Murray State University board in May 2007. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Murray State and his law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. Mr. Stout operates law offices in both Marion and Paducah, and formerly served 21 years (5 terms) as county attorney of Crittenden County, Kentucky. He currently serves as trustee and director for Farmers Bank and Trust and chairman of the board of Fohs Hall, Inc.  He is a past president of the MSU Alumni Association as well as the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. Mr. Stout has also served as a bankruptcy trustee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Kentucky and is former chair of the Western Kentucky Industrial Foundation. His term on the MSU board expires in 2010.
Regent Jay MorganJay Morgan, Vice Chair
Jay Morgan of Murray was elected to serve as vice chair for the Murray State University board in May 2007 and serves as faculty regent. The MSU faculty first elected him to the board to fill the unexpired term of the former faculty regent from January 15 to June 30, 2007. Dr. Morgan is a professor of agriculture at MSU and holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree of science in agriculture from MSU. He earned his Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University in 1998. His community service includes Murray City Council, past board chair of United Way of Calloway County, past president of the board of Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club member, 2002 Murray-Calloway County Citizen of the Year and board member of the Kentucky Teacher Retirement System board of trustees, in addition to many other community and university committees. His term on the MSU board expires in 2010.

 

Regent Bill AdamsWilliam C. Adams Jr. is a registered professional civil engineer in the state of Kentucky and building contractor in his hometown of Murray. After completing his pre-engineering curriculum at MSU, Mr. Adams earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky and then returned to Murray to earn his master’s degree. He is a member of the Western Kentucky Construction Association of Associated General Contractors. Mr. Adams is dedicated to the affairs of his community, serving on the Murray City Council, Murray Planning Commission, Murray-Calloway Chamber of Commerce, and Murray Board of Education. His term on the MSU board expires in 2011.
Marilyn Reed BuchanonMarilyn Reed Buchanon of Grand Rivers holds a bachelor’s degree in business education from MSU and is a private investor. She and her brother were the former owners and operators of Reed Crushed Stone Company, Inc., the largest limestone quarry in the nation. In addition, she has served as chairman of the board of the Bank of Livingston County and served as a member of the board of directors of Area Bank and BB&T. A life member of the MSU Alumni Association and member of the President’s Club, she served on the MSU Foundation board of trustees from 1987 to 1992 and is currently an ex-officio member of the Foundation. She is a member of the Grand Rivers United Methodist Church where she serves as pianist. An advocate for people of all ages, her face is familiar as a devoted volunteer of both the elementary school and convalescent center in Calvert City. She was part of a volunteer committee that raised funds for the West Kentucky Academic Bowl Scholarship and has been a significant contributor to many key projects at Murray State, including the Regional Special Events Center, MSU athletics, University Libraries, Endowed Chairs, WKMS, Boy Scout Museum, Vision Quest Capital Campaign, etc. Her term on the MSU board expires in 2014.
Regent Beverly FordBeverly J. Ford of Benton is retired from a career as an art teacher at Marshall County High School. During that time, she served as department chairperson and was recognized by the Kentucky Art Education Association (KAEA) with the Lowenfield Award in 1992 and Outstanding Secondary Art Teacher award in 1988. She completed 30 hours of instruction at Murray State for certification of Rank I in education. She also holds a bachelor’s degree with an area in art education and a master’s in weaving and textile design from MSU and is a member of the Kiwanis Club. She has served as vice president and educational director for the Marshall County Arts Council and was a committee member for Concert in the Park. She is a former member of the National Art Education Association, National Education Association, Kentucky Education Association and Arts Alliance and served two terms as vice president of the KAEA. Her term on the MSU board expires in 2009.
Regent Peggy HaysPeggy J. Hays is in the retail furniture business in Hopkinsville. She earned a bachelor of science degree in advertising and marketing from the University of Kentucky and worked for seven years in the radio industry before returning to the family furniture business. Dedicated to the advancement of her community, Ms. Hays has been involved with the Association of the United States Army, Hopkinsville-Christian County (HCC) Trail of Tears Commission, HCC Conference and Convention Center, HCC Crimestoppers, HCC Chamber of Commerce, HCC Chamber Retail Council, HCC Convention and Visitors Bureau, Hopkinsville Local Development Corporation, and HCC Recreation Department. Her term on the MSU board expires in 2009.
Laxmaiah ManchikantiLaxmaiah Manchikanti of Paducah was appointed to the Murray State University board in August 2007. He is the medical director of the Pain Management Center of Paducah and Ambulatory Surgery Center in Paducah, Kentucky. He is associate clinical professor of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine at the University of Louisville. Dr. Manchikanti is the founder and chief executive officer of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and Society of Interventional Pain Management Surgery Centers, Pain Physicians Journal and many state societies of Interventional Pain Physicians. He is also the founder of ABIPP and the ASIPP Foundation. Dr. Manchikanti is a member of the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure and the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee. He is a member of the editorial boards of multiple medical journals and his work has appeared in more than 230 publications. He has also published several books. His term on the MSU board expires in 2013.
Kara MantoothKara Mantooth of Owensboro was elected president of the Student Government Association and serves as the student regent at Murray State University. She is a public relations major with a minor in youth and nonprofit leadership. Miss Mantooth is excited to serve on the Board of Student Body Presidents where she will continue her efforts in advocating for postsecondary education. She is a member of the White College Honor Society, Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and Campus Outreach. Her term on the MSU board expires in 2009.
Regent Jeff TaylorJeff Taylor of Owensboro is a Judge on the Kentucky Court of Appeals. He holds the bachelor of science degree in political science from MSU, master’s of public administration degree from Memphis State University and J.D. from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. He is a member of the board of directors of the Daviess County Public Schools Foundation and the Kentucky Bar Foundation. He also serves on the board of trustees of Girls Incorporated of Owensboro-Daviess County, is past president of the Kiwanis Club of Owensboro, and is a member of the Brandeis Honor Society at the Brandeis School of Law. He is a life fellow of the Kentucky Bar Foundation. His term on the MSU board expires in 2012.
Regent Vickie TravisVickie Travis, a volunteer and civic activist in Murray, earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees, both in education, from Murray State University. A native of Marshall County, Ms. Travis is a long-time member of the Murray State University President’s Club and the Racer Club. She has served on the Federal Judicial Selection Committee for Kentucky, chaired the major events committee during the Murray First Baptist Church Capital Campaign, and has served as president of Calloway County Schools Alumni and Associates, which raises scholarship dollars. Her term on the MSU board expires in 2010.
Regent Gina WinchesterGina Shipley Winchester is the executive director of regional stewardship for Murray State University and serves as the staff regent. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in organizational communication from MSU. A Kentucky Colonel, Mrs. Winchester is a past vice president of Leadership Murray Alumni and past annual support chair for the Murray-Calloway County Healthcare Foundation. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Higher Education Leadership Development Program, Order of Omega, Alpha Omicron Pi social sorority and former member of the National Advisory Board for the Walt Disney College Program. Her term on the MSU board expires in 2009.
