Murray State University is proud to be a participant in The American Democracy Project. The project is comprised of 145 public colleges and universities which are members of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).

The American Democracy Project stems from concern over the decreasing rates of participation in vital civic engagements such as voting, advocacy, and volunteerism. The project is Based on premise that such civic engagement is critical for the preservation and vitality of American Democracy.

The program strives to create an intellectual and experiential understanding of civic engagement for undergraduate students. The goal of the project is to yield graduates with a comprehension of and dedication to civic engagement.

Service Learning

To identify, recognize and encourage Service Learning at MSU, the university established the Service Learning Scholars initiative in 2002. This project allows students to earn the designation of Service Learning Scholar.
