SMART Assessment Forms and Instructions

SMART Assessment is the name MSU uses for identify the ongoing process of student-learning outcomes assessment utilized in the Academic departments to improve effectiveness and student performance.

SMART Forms

Two forms are utilized annually for assessment, the SMART Plan and the SMART Report. Click the links below to access the appropriate forms.

SMART PLAN

The SMART Assessment Plan is designed to help the department understand and improve student learning in the major.  Departments should limit the student learning outcomes assessed in a single year to a manageable number (2-4 is common) befitting the needs of the programs.  Departments may determine to assess some outcomes for a single year and others over several years. 

Plans are due by September 15th of each year to the Office of the Provost.

SMART REPORT

The Assessment Report provides a record of the past academic year's assessment activities. Assessment reports and revised plans are due on September 15th of each year to the Office of the Provost.
