Adopted by major universities to address the planning needs of higher education in the 1980’s, strategic planning is defined as the process of developing and maintaining a strategic fit between the organization and its changing environments. Strategic planning is based upon the formation of operational goals designed to advance the institution’s mission and ensure long-term viability and excellence. Strategy development at Murray State University is an inclusive, systematic, and continuous process.
