Educational
Objectives:
The primary
objective of the Bachelor of Arts in Business (BAB) and the Bachelor of
Science in Business (BSB) degree programs is to prepare students to acquire
the "Characteristics of the Murray State University Graduate" that Murray
State University has specified for its students. Beyond meeting the "Characteristics"
statement, objectives pertaining to the BAB and BSB degree programs in
particular are to provide students with:
1. A basic knowledge and understanding of the functional areas of business;
2. A global, cross-cultural perspective toward conducting business in a
culturally-diverse business environment;
3. Skills in computer business applications and management information
systems;
4. An opportunity to develop their written and oral communications skills
with application to the business environment;
5. An ability to recognize and solve problems logically and creatively
in
an ever-changing business environment;
6. An opportunity to further their knowledge and skills in a chosen area
of business including:
- accounting
- business administration
- computer information systems
- finance, management, marketing
- international business
- office systems or a combination of accounting with computer information
systems
7. An intermediate proficiency in a foreign language (BAB degree only).
The
BAB and BSB degree programs include areas of study in accounting, business
administration, computer information systems, finance, international business,
management, marketing, office systems, accounting with computer information
systems.
