Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Educational
Objectives:
- Attract,
graduate, and place qualified women and men from a variety of educational,
professional, and cultural backgrounds.
- Offer
a broad, integrated curriculum that provides each student with an understanding
of
- the theoretical, historical, and ethical foundations of business,
- the major facets of domestic and international business operations,
- the social-legal-political environment of business.
- Require
students to demonstrate knowledge of
- financial analysis, markets, and reporting,
- domestic and global economic environments of business,
- the creation and distribution of goods and services,
- human behavior in organizations (including demographic diversity),
- the influence of technology (including computer usage),
- ethics and environmental issues (e.g., political, social, legal, etc.),
- written and oral communication,
- quantitative analysis,
Further,
in the general MBA:
- require students to demonstrate a knowledge of quantitative financial
controls.
In
the MBA with accounting option:
- provide a graduate specialization in accounting that is responsive
to students seeking advanced study of accounting and that meets certification
requirements.
- seek to instill the following attributes in accounting option MBA
students:
- acquisition
of relevant accounting knowledge.
- analytical
reasoning skills based on accounting methodology.
- a
sense of professionalism based on integrity and a strong sense of
ethics.
- interpersonal
skills conducive to consensus building.
- an
appreciation and understanding of social responsibility.
