36th Annual Chemistry Scholarship Tournament Held at Curris Center

     Murray, KY - Seventeen high schools from three states were represented by team and individual participants in the 36th Murray State University High School Chemistry Scholarship Tournament, November 2, 2006.
    
A total of 71 students from high schools in Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee participated in the activity sponsored by the MSU Department of Chemistry, in conjunction with the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society.


Contestents during the exam

     The four top-scoring individuals will be offered scholarships to Murray State and were presented cash awards and plaques, while the top-scoring teams were presented cash awards and plaques. Cash awards were also presented to the three highest scoring individuals currently in the first year of high school chemistry.

     The four top-scoring individuals were: Josh Hyatt, First Place, Murray High School, Murray, KY, Becky Fairbanks, Sponsor; Matt Jordan, Second Place, Murray High School, Murray, KY, Becky Fairbanks, Sponsor; Andy Couch, Third Place, Waverly Central High School, Waverly, TN, Robby Einerson, Sponsor; Daniel White, Fourth Place, Murray High School, Murray, KY, Becky Fairbanks, Sponsor.
     Winners in the Lower Division section were: Justin Palmer, First Place, Calloway Co. High School, Murray, KY, Jeremy Krug, Sponsor; Tyler Cantrell, Second Place, Mayfield High School, Mayfield, KY, Mary Seay, Sponsor; Khristian Sunga, Third Place, Hardin County High School, Elizabethtown, IL, Larry Conley, Sponsor.
     The school team winners were: First Place, Murray High School, Murray, KY, Becky Fairbanks, Sponsor; Second Place, Marion High School, Marion, IL, Megin Rice, Sponsor; Third Place, Waverly Central High School, Waverly, TN, Robby Einerson, Sponsor; Fourth Place, Calloway County High School, Murray, KY, Jeremy Krug, Sponsor.
