SEARCDE Meeting Held at MSU

SEARCDE LogoThe 27th annual Southeastern-Atlantic Regional Conference on Differential Equations was a little further west than usual this Fall. The conference was held at Murray State University on October 19-20, 2007 and organized by Maeve McCarthy and Renee Fister. Seventy nine mathematicians gathered to discuss the use of differential equations in biology, physics, engineering and other fields.

The invited speakers were Barbara L. Keyfitz (Fields Institute and University of Houston), Gerda deVries (University of Alberta) and Jeff Borggaard (Virginia Tech). MSU students Craig Collins (graduate student, Murray) and Molly Williams (senior, Louisville) presented the results of their research on mathematical models of cancer treatment. The conference was supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation, and by Murray State University.
The next SEARCDE conference will take place at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. For more information, email searcde@murraystate.edu, contact one of the organizers or visit the MSU SEARCDE website.
