CSET Hosts Fulbright Scholar

MSU's College of Science, Engineering, and Technology is happy to welcome Dr. Ghassan Halasa back to Murray. Dr. Halasa is a visiting Fulbright Scholar from the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan, where he serves as an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering.

Ghassan began his studies at Murray State University, completing a B.S. degree in physics in 1970, and then moving on to the University of Missouri to earn graduate degrees in electrical engineering. He has enjoyed a long and productive career in education, both in teaching and administration. The Department of Physics and Engineering is delighted to serve as his host department during his one-year Fulbright appointment.
The Fulbright program is the US government's flagship program for the international exchange of scholars. The program was initiated shortly after WWII to promote international understanding and to prompt the free exchange of information between political, economic, and higher education institutions.

Dr. Halasa is now conducting a series of guest lectures in high voltage phenomena, which is his area of research specialization. He will be teaching a course on electrical machines in the spring semester. Ghassan is active in the Rotary club in Amman, and he has already become active in Murray's club as an affiliate member during his stay here.

Dr. Halasa is accompanied by his wife Fadia, and daughters Zain and Nouf. We look forward to Dr. Halasa's contributions to our academic life at Murray State. Please join us as we welcome Ghassan and family to the Murray community.
