Dr. Cetin Elected Regional
President of American Society for Photogrammetry and
Remote Sensing

      Dr. Haluk Cetin, Associate Professor of Geosciences and Research Associate, Mid-America Remote Sensing Center, has been elected to serve for two years as President of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Mid-South Region, which covers Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Dr. Cetin is also helping to organize the 2005 ASPRS Fall Conference entitled “A Closer Look at Natural Resource Applications” to be held at the University of Georgia Continuing Education Center in Athens, Georgia, November 10-11, 2005.

      Dr. Cetin is also active in other areas of service. He hosted the 2003 ASPRS Mid-South Region Fall Conference at Murray State. He was President of MSU Chapter of Sigma Xi last year and helped organize several Sigma Xi events including our joint meeting with UT Martin Sigma Xi. Dr. Cetin has served the ASPRS as Vice President during the last four years and as Student Coordinator for six years.


      Founded in 1934, the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is a scientific association serving over 7,000 professional members around the world. The ASPRS mission is to advance knowledge and improve understanding of mapping sciences to promote the responsible applications of photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), and supporting technologies.
